Hello Friends!
September and October have been heavy event filled months. With back to school, a high school volleyball season, I’m barely getting the opportunity to sit down and share all the exciting news so I'm combining this month to give you some updates and hope you'll tell me how you're doing in your neck of the woods!
American Book Fest Winner!
In September Grieving Daughters’ Club won two awards as finalist in the American Book Fest for best General Fiction and Religious Fiction.
I’m incredibly humbled by this experience, and still in a state of shock that I get to share my book with so many. I know as a writer I still have much to learn but it has truly been humbling and wonderful to hear feedback from others who have read my story and it has touched their lives.
Book Club News
In October I joined an author zoom visit with the Grupo de Lectura Book Club and was able to share some experiences about my story with them. I loved hearing how their book club has been going for some time and like the characters in Grieving Daughters’ Club they too have a special bond. If you want to start a book club with the Grieving Daughters’ Club, please let me know as I’d be glad to share out book questions on the story, and if local, would love to meet your book club! Podcast News:
Another busy project has been our successful podcast! If you haven’t had a chance to check out Mourning Glory Podcast, please listen or share the word! My cohost and dear friend Jennifer Thomas and I have truly enjoyed this experience. The podcast has been running strong now for close to two months.
While we are still figuring out the digital world of podcasting, the content has been nothing less than cathartic and helpful to those who’ve tuned in. We’ve also had some special speakers on including Rosaline Cruz-Rine our resident therapist, Allison Gingras from Reconciled to you, authors Mary Lenaburg and Jane Lebak. Each of these have shared their experiences of loss. We have many more episodes to come.
If there’s someone you know that is going through loss, and feel this might help, please share and spread the word. Also if you have any topics dealing with loss (and not just death but any kind of loss) tell us your Mourning Glory at mourningglorypodcast@gmail.com
We are also hosting a special novena starting Tuesday, October 24, leading up to All Souls Day. If you have a special person you’d like us to pray for, clink on the link here and we’ll add their name to our list of intentions. We’ll also post on Instagram and Facebook each day the prayer if you’d like to follow along.
Monthly Book Picks
My book picks for this month’s blog comes from my Elk Lake Publishing Family.
Tangled Lives which is part of the Treasuted Lives Series by Carol McLain I was fortunate to get a digital copy of the book.
For anyone who loves clean romance this is a beautiful story of two sisters who fall in love with the same man, and yet both want what is right for their sister. There’s a lot of twist and turns in the story that also bringing up wounds from the past, and yet through it all has a happy ending. Carol McClain does an excellent job keeping her story suspenseful and also faith based. Carol also has a slew of other books to enjoy and gets my approval for quality writing.
What's Next?
I am still knee deep in writing projects, teaching and (soon to start club volleyball season) but I did manage to carve out a little time to get involved locally.
I’ll be at the Bethlehem Market in Turlock Ca. on Decemeber2, for book sales and signing of Grieving Daughters’ Club as well as promotion of the podcast. If you haven’t picked up a copy stop by and see me there as I’ll be hanging out most of the day. You can check out their link and see all of their local vendors.
So, as you can see, September and October have been nothing short of busy, but with God’s support and grace, I’ll be able to get by this fall and winter season.
If you know anyone who would benefit from my blogs, feel free to share this with them and help me continue to grow my ministry.
Until next month! God Bless!
Andrea Bear
